Seasoning Calculator

The key to any great boil is nailing the seasoning-to-water ratio. Use the crawfish and shrimp seafood boil calculator below for guidance on your specific pot. As a rule of thumb, we typically use 6 pounds of seasoning per batch in an 80 to 100 qt pot. For every follow-up batch, we add 2 pounds of seasoning.

Why Use a Crawfish & Shrimp Boil Calculator?

How much seasoning do I use for a crawfish boil? How much water do I add to my boil? These are questions we hear all the time at Boil Boss. Many boilers struggle to achieve this so-called perfect ratio, often using too much water—or not enough.

Adding too much water to your boil can dilute your recipe. Too little water, however, and your seasonings will overpower the natural flavors of your seafood, likely being too salty… Adding too much seasoning will do the same. Conversely, minimal seasoning will have your crawfish and lagniappe lacking in flavor. This ratio impacts your entire boil and can be tricky to get right.

Our crawfish and shrimp boil calculator is designed to answer exactly how much seasoning to use for your pot.
